This is a Wordpress plugin to create as many maps as you want, with interactive and colored markers, continents, countries or regions.
(Check out the standalone non-wordpress version here)

Fully compatible with the brand new WordPress v4.9 and Visual Composer!

Show Different Regions

You will be able to show hundreds of different kinds of maps, already included:
  • A map of the entire world.
  • A continent or a sub-continent. (Africa, Europe, Americas, Asia, Oceania and all their sub-continents)
  • A country. (virtually all the countries in the world are included, featuring the most requested: USA, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil, India, Australia…)
  • A country divided by its regions. *
  • A state in the United States.
  • The United States divided by metropolitan areas.
  • A state in the United States divided by metropolitan areas.

Color Regions or add Markers

You can add active colored regions to the map, and display them in 2 different ways:
  • As Regions – It will color the whole region, for example a continent, subcontinent, a country, a country province, or a US state.
  • As Markers -It will display a colored bubble in the chosen regions, that can be a city, a state or a country.

See the DEMO to see how they interact!

Add Interactivity

You can add interactivity to the active regions:
  • A Tooltip- A tooltip will be displayed by default on hover with the information you provide.
  • An Action ? You can set up diferent kinds of action for when the user clicks in an active area. You can make a new URL open, or simply display a message. Advanced users will be able to create their own Javascript functions for customized actions, like opening information with a lightbox effect.

Customizable

You will be able to costumize the visual of your maps:
  • Background color;
  • Box border width and color;
  • Inactive regions color;
  • Individual colors for each active region;
  • Markers size;
  • Width and Height of the map;

Add the Maps anywhere on your website

You can use a shortcode to include the maps in posts, pages and even in sidebar widgets! You can also add the maps to your template, with a simple php function.

Responsive

If no width is specified it will load with the maximum width available in the container div. For example, it will load and adapt with different sizes for phones/ipads/laptops. However, after loaded it will not change size if you resize the window.

Since version 1.4 the plugin includes an option to make the maps fully Responsive. This will use jQuery to check if the window size changed and will redraw the map with the new available space. RESPONSIVE INTERACTIVE MAP EXAMPLE

Cross device and browser compatible

The maps are built in SVG, no flash is used and therefore they will display in Mac products.

CSS Hacks made easy

There a few features that the Google Geochart API doesn’t provide by default, but the plugin provides a ‘Custom CSS Generator’ to help implement some features like hover colour change effect, implement font icons as markers, change border colour, among others.

Example of map using font icons from fontAwesome toolkit using some CSS tricks, available from version 1.7.3 released January 2016. Learn more about this technique.

Testimonials

«Absolutely love this plugin. Very easy to use and set up. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a mapping solution! Great job.»
SBMAG

«This is the easiest to use plugin. I bought the plugin to use for a client?s site that does work all over the world. They wanted an easy way to display information about their work in different countries and this made my life so simple. Well worth the money and I?ll be back to purchase for any additional clients who need this type of functionality.»
Benjamin Bradley

«If anyone is thinking about buying this plug-in, don?t hesitate. It doesn?t get any better than this. If you think $18 is too steep, you?ve never struggled coding maps. This is such a time saver that I?d gladly have paid ten times the asking price. In fact, I?ve paid a pretty penny for software over the years hoping to save time and aggravation when it came to making interactive maps. Interactive World Maps is a gem.»
Mark

Notes

* The maps of countries divided by regions include the main regions of the specified country. The plugin calls all of them ‘Provinces’ but in reality they could be states, regions, provinces or counties, depending of the country. They are the first level of division of a country. In the particular case of UK, it only includes 4 regions (ENG, NIR, SCT and WLS). The maps of some small countries divided by regions are not available, since the country is too small (Malta for example). If you need to make sure a map divided by regions is available, contact us via the support tab.

    Hi, Is it possible to make the map one solid colour, so each country is not divided by a border? If so, how? Thanks

    Hi! If you're using one of the latest versions, below the map preview when you edit the map, you'll have access to the 'custom css generator'. There you can set the border to 0px and this should remove the borders. Or you can set the border to be the same colour of the countries. Hope it helps! Greetings, Carlos

    You should be able to use the custom css generator, no need to add css, but it would be something like this: To remove the border:

    .iwm_map_canvas path {
      stroke-width:0 !important;
    }

    Or colour the border the same colours as your countries.
    .iwm_map_canvas path {
      stroke-width:1 !important;
      stroke:#6699CC;
    }

    If you're using a very old version of the plugin, the css might need to be different. If that's the case, write me using the 'contact author' option in the support tab. Greetings, Carlos

    Hello! Thank you for purchasing the plugin! Unfortunately, in the current version this is not possible. The tooltip is limited to 2 lines. The plugin uses the Google Geochart API to generate the maps and currently they still don’t have the option to add HTML to the tooltips, which would solve the multiple lines issue. But they say they will implement this option at some point. When they do, I’ll make this option available also in the plugin. You could use the option of displaying content above or below the map or even the alert box to display longer content. Sorry for this current limitation. If you have any other question, let me know. Greetings, Carlos

    If you use that option, it's like any other content on the page, it will wrap naturally on the available space, you don't have to insert the line breaks manually. You can use normal html tags like paragraphs(p) and line breaks (br). The best way for you to see is to test it out.

    Hello! Thank you for purchasing the plugin. Usually on WordPress multisites the plugin fails to set the default values in the settings. Can you check if this is the case? You can go on the default settings page and set them manualy. Usually this fixes the problem. Can you check if this works? Greetings, Carlos

    Hello, the default values in the settings are working, it's the maps itself that I have a problem with. I'm gonna try to explain: If a create a map on the main website, there no problem, it's working normally. The problem is with the other websites of the network, if create there a map and save it, the map goes directly in the main website list of maps and doesn't stay in the other website list. So I can create any maps in any other websites, they are only going to be in the list of the main website, and the list of the other websites are going to be empty. I hope you can understand my explanation ;-) Thank you! Alexandre

    The size of the maps you display, will depend on which map. The page starts by loading a 5kb file, and then build the map from there. The maps are built with the Google Geochart API, so you can investigate if they usually slow down the websites or not. Of course since the maps are something else to load, they need a bit more time to load. But since they are SVG format and google servers are usually fast, I would say they load in a very good time.

    hello, we purchased your plugin and set it up - however there is one thing we cannot figure out - we need to display a certain location by default, i.e. right now the custom html output works when user clicks on a marker on a map - what we need is to have a default one load automatically when the page is first loaded and then change when user clicks on another location. how can we do this? thanks.

    Hello! Thanks for purchasing the plugin! The plugin doesn't have an option to set a default marker already open. But you can build a custom action to achieve that. Check out this example: http://cmoreira.net/interactive-world-maps-demo/world-offices-map-information-display/ Check the old example on how to build a custom action to display content below the map. Follow the instructions, and then you can set the default value manually when you manually place the div on the page: div id='imap29message'>CONTENT HERE Or with javascript pull the content of the marker: div id='imap29message'>< script > document.write(ivalue_29['marker region code']);< / script>

    remember to change '29' by the ID of your map. Check if this would work, or send me a message from my profile here at codecanyon to your map so I can help you further. Cheers Carlos ps: this comments system strips the html, so let me know if you don't understand exactly the code.

    Hi! Thanks for purchasing the plugin! To do that, you have to choose the 'Action Region Action' to Open New URL. And then, on the Action Value for each entry of the map, you just place the email in the email link format, like: mailto:[email protected] It should work. Let me know if you already tried this and it's not working. Greetings Carlos

    Hello! Unfortunately, we can't do much with the maps, since they are loaded from the google geochart API library like that and the customization options are limited. There are some CSS techniques that could improve the visuals, check some examples here: http://cmoreira.net/interactive-world-maps-demo/advanced-customization/ http://cmoreira.net/interactive-world-maps-demo/how-to-change-default-map-crop/ But it's not a perfect solution. Hello, love the plugin; it has saved me a lot of time and it's really easy to use. I've been using "Regions" to show sales reps in different parts of North America however, I noticed that as soon as I got beyond 10 states or so, the map started loading slowly (Drawing maybe one state every 3 seconds). Is there anyway I can alleviate this loading time by, hopefully, changing an option to decrease drawing time? I noticed above you recommended using "Coordinates", but if possible, I'd like to use the entire state. If none of these are possible, I will settle for a method to superimpose a "Loading" over it. If you could point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful. Thanks!

    Hi! Thank you for purchasing the plugin and for the positive words. On Regions mode, on the US map for example, if you use the code format US-TX for example, it should load very fast. What info are you putting in the 'Region Code' field?

    There are no more than 4 reps per state (Most are two or so), and roughly 35 states have reps in them. For each rep, I use the following format:

    Fluid Tech, Inc.

    1110 Moccasin Drive
    McMurray, Pennsylvania, 15317
    United States

    Website: Fluid Tech., Inc.
    Email: [email protected]
    Phone: (724) 942-3400
    Fax: (724) 942-3405

    Is this, perhaps, what is slowing it down? Assuming that there is between 1-4 of those for nearly 30-35 states?

    That shouldn't affect the loading time of the map. I mean what code are you using to identify each state when adding the entry to the map. The first field on the data table. Are you using the format US-TX, US-CA, etc?

    Try with the '-' sign, as they are the ISO standard codes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2:US It should make a difference yes. Try updating the codes and see if the states load faster.

    Yes. You can display Uganda and display markers on specific locations, specified via text or lat/lon values. Here's an example: http://awesomescreenshot.com/09eo07bbe

    Hello! Sorry for the late reply, I was on holidays with limited Internet access. What version of android are you using? Can you see the maps on the plugin demo page with your version of android? It might be better if you send me a message from my profile here at codecanyon with the details so I can assist you better. Thanks!

    From the info I have the Android 2.x default browser does not natively support SVG (the map type files), you would need to use another non-native browser, like Firefox. The Android 3+ default browsers support SVG and should not have any problems with viewing the maps. This could be the issue. can you double check with a different browser on the android just to check if it would work? You could also visit the demo page with your mobile to check if it's the case: http://cmoreira.net/interactive-world-maps-demo/

    Hello ludmuse! Yes, you can integrate both: you can simple create an entry for each country and create a link to send users to the corresponding category page. Would this work?
    Let me know if you have any further questions. Cheers

    Great plugin, but having a couple of problems. I've managed to get Nepal to show on the site, but after adding the Indian provinces, they don't show up. This is what I have (taken from the advanced tab): NP,Nepal,LEADS (Livelihood Education and Development Society),,#40003D;KA,India,SAMUHA, Karnataka state,,#40003D; AP,India,SACRED (Social Action for Child Rehabilitation Emancipation and Development),,#40003D; JH,India,NBJK (Nav Bharat Jagruti Kendra),,#40003D; BR,India,NBJK (Nav Bharat Jagruti Kendra),,#40003D; This is the page where they are being shown: http://cw.writaz.com/projects Thanks.

    Hi! Thank you for purchasing the plugin! The codes for India should have the prefix IN. So the codes should be for example:

    NP,Nepal,LEADS (Livelihood Education and Development Society),,#40003D;
    IN-KA,India,SAMUHA, Karnataka state,#FFFFFF;
    IN-AP,India,SACRED (Social Action for Child Rehabilitation Emancipation and Development),,#40003D;
    IN-JH,India,NBJK (Nav Bharat Jagruti Kendra),,#67C2A0;
    IN-BR,India,NBJK (Nav Bharat Jagruti Kendra),,#D4CB7B;

    This should work. Let me know if it doesn't. Greetings, Carlos

    Is it possible to show regions when it is the full world map? I've got exactly the same sections in the full world map on this link, but it only shows Nepal: http://cw.writaz.com/about-us/where-we-work Thanks

    Unfortunately not. It's not possible to have countries divided by regions when using the world map. I'm sorry for this limitation.

    I am using your great plugin for a multi language website. I use easy translate manager of "Righthere" of codecanyon. How would you recommend to translate your maps?

    Hi! Thanks a lot for purchasing my plugin and for the positive words! By translating, you mean the administration panel, or the maps you create? The plugin itself, the administration is not translation ready, yet. But I plan to make it so in January. If you want different language versions for each map, the best would be to replicate the maps, create one for each language, with the tooltip content translated. Then, if your language plugin allows, use shortcodes to display the correct map version. In the current version of the plugin, this would be the only solution. I'm sorry for the current limitations. Greetings, Carlos

    Hi - Great plugin. Thank you. I don't think you have this feature, but it would be really nice to have it available. When you build each marker in the map, it would be nice to have an option to click on a drop down list of all existing pages on my site. Then I could just select the page I want it to refer to. Right now I have to go into each page and copy and paste the URL, which can be really monotonous with 24 of them. Thanks for your consideration! Josh

    Hi Josh, thank you for using the plugin and for the suggestion! I understand what you mean. Could be a good idea yes. Will add it to the list of possible things to implement, but I can't promise anything at the moment. Thank you for the feedback! Greetings, Carlos
