Total Ultimate Multipurpose WordPress Theme

Total is a modern and responsive WordPress theme that combines the power of the WordPress Customizer and the Visual Composer page builder to allow you to create a website for virtually anything. The theme was created with many different niches and professions in mind – corporations, small business, online stores, lawyers, agencies, wedding planners, hosting companies, non-profits, bloggers and more. We’ve made sure to include enough features and settings so that you can create pretty much any site! Have a look at our growing list of demos so you can get a glimpse at what is possible with the Total premium WordPress theme.

The Freelancer’s Dream Theme: If you are a freelancer you will especially enjoy using the Total theme. Long gone are the days where you would have to search for a new theme for each client. Once you get familiar with Total you’ll want to use it on all your client sites making things easier and faster! You can start out by importing one of our beautiful online demos and tweak it for your client’s needs or simply develop the site from scratch by adding your page content with the page builder and tweaking your design and main theme settings via the live WordPress customizer.

Just have a look at some of our industry specific homepage examples to get an idea of just what kind of magic Total is capable of. The theme is packed to the brim with great features like WooCommerce integration or Unlimited Portfolios. At a price that is less than a tank of gas there?s no reason not to get Total today and start building your new website!

Unlimited Custom Pages: WordPress page templates are nice…but when you need to start editing things for your client or your own needs you will have to use code. But not with Total. Use the included Visual Composer page builder to create unique layouts in no time for each one of your pages and wow your client and/or visitors.

Built-in Demo Importer: With the built-in demo importer you can easily import the content, theme settings, widgets and sliders from any of our live demos to get started quickly. When testing the demo importer we found that most demos will import in under 1 minute! This means when you are starting from scratch (empty Wordpress site) you will be able to easily replicate any of our live demo sites very quickly so you can then tweak it for yourself or your client. When importing a demo you can select to import just the Sample Data (with or without the images from the live site), the Customizer settings, the widgets or the sliders or you can import everything. Importing a live demo is a great way to get a feel for how the theme works or to give you a head start with the project if you already like that look and feel.

Exclusive Visual Composer Modules: The Total WP theme includes over 40 unique and exclusive Visual Composer page builder modules that make setting up your site even easier! These include divider dots, CSS leader (for menu items), animated text, icon boxes, teaser box, list items, pricing tables, milestones, social links, navigation bar, search bar, login form, Mailchimp form, gallery slider, image slider, image carousel, recent news, blog grid, portfolio grid, staff grid, testimonials grid, testimonials slider…and more! Total has everything you need to create great page layouts for your site.

Live Customizer Settings: With Total we wanted to do things the right way that’s why we’ve thrown away the old Theme settings panel in the WP admin which are normally hard to work with, add a lot of extra bloat to your site and you can’t even see your edits live as you alter them. With Total you can quickly adjust your theme settings and see them change before your eyes! This way you can save your theme settings (such as all your site colors) once you are fully satisfied with the outcome.

Unlimited Colors & Site Widths: It wouldn’t be fair to give you a whole page builder for creating custom layouts and not allow you to also adjust your main theme colors and layout. Via the Customizer you can easily change the colors of all the main elements of the site to give your site a unique look as well as you can easily change the main site layout widths so your site can be at any size you want. If you want to have a very skinny site simply adjust your settings to make the main container smaller (default is 980px) and if you want a really large site then adjust your settings to make it larger. And don’t worry you can alter your widths for various screen sizes so your site will render beautifully on all devices.

Boxed or Full-Width Layouts: The Total WordPress theme allows you to choose between a full-width or boxed layout for your main site design. If you are looking for a more modern and minimal look choose the default full-width layout with a white background or if you want to have pretty backgrounds behind your main content (a more classic blog/magazine look) then select the boxed layout. You can view examples of both styles in our live demos (link above).

Header Styles & Header Builder: The Total WordPress theme wouldn’t be complete without the ability to choose between different header styles. You can choose to have a left logo with a right side menu, a menu below your logo, a centered menu below the logo, a menu above your logo or a sidebar style. Plus via the Customizer you can easily alter various settings for your header such as the custom logo, menu colors, logo and menu typography, top bar content and social icons, choose between different mobile menu styles for the theme and much more. And for very simple headers or more advanced headers simply go to the Header Builder where you can select a standard page that you have built using the Visual Composer page builder as your header – wow, awesome! (the theme also includes a footer builder function).

Fluid/Responsive Design: With so many people using mobile devices these days it’s crucial that your site looks good and runs efficiently on mobile devices. The Total theme is by default a fluid layout so as you shrink the viewport (browser size) the theme will adjust so all your content remains visible and beautiful. Plus we’ve made sure to include necessary checks in the javascript so that unnecessary functions aren’t running on mobile devices keeping your site we’ll optimized. While working in the live page builder and WordPress Customizer you can also click little device icons to easily see what your site will look like at those screen sizes – cool!

Custom Post Types UI Full Support: The Total WordPress theme also includes full support for the popular Custom Post Types UI Plugin for adding new post types to your site. When you add a new post type you will find custom settings specific to the Total theme for choosing your archive layout columns (1,2,3,4,5), you can add a custom sidebar specific for this type, enable the advanced page settings metabox, select the elements that display on the entries (featured image, title, meta, content, readmore), select the items that display on the page (featured image/video, title, meta, content, comments, social share) and more!

Don’t Need it? Disable it!: Worried about purchasing another bloated theme? With Total, there?s nothing to worry about! We?ve coded our theme to be easy to use and manage. Manage your theme features with the click of a button in the Theme Panel. So what exactly can you manage from here? You can manage your under construction page, recommended plugins notice, javascript minification, custom CSS, custom animations, Favicons, Header Builder, Footer Builder, Total custom VC modules, custom post types (portfolio, staff, testimonials), post series, custom login page, custom 404 page, the customizer manager, custom WordPress gallery, custom widget areas, category thumbnails, custom editor formats, custom image cropping, admin import/export panel…etc. In other words all the powerful features included in the theme can be enabled or disabled so you don’t have to load anything you don’t need for your site.

3rd Party Compatibility: The Total premium theme has been tested with tons of popular 3rd party plugins and even includes custom code as needed for full compatibility. Some of these plugins include, but aren’t limited to: bbPress (forums), WooCommerce (online store), WordPress SEO by Yoast, The Events Calendar (also known as Tribe Events), WPML, TranslatePress, Polylang, JetPack, Slider Revolution (included free), LayerSlider (included free), Visual Composer (included Free)...and many more!

Developer Friendly: Total is a very solid framework built from scratch from the ground up. Everything that has been added serves its purpose and can also be easily manipulated if wanted via theme hooks and/or filters. So many premium WordPress themes are coded in a way that makes it very difficult for developers to truly customize their theme via custom code. While you can create an awesome website with the Total theme without ever touching any code some people really like having the ability to perform advanced modifications and the Total theme was coded with that in mind. You can use theme hooks to add or remove parts of the theme, use filters to adjust default theme functions or even extend the included custom built metabox functionality (add your own custom fields). We have over 250 online snippets that you can use as a basis for advanced modifications. As customers ask us for specific tasks we often times help them by drafting sample snippets and then we post them online for others to find. We have also built many extensions (plugins) for Total theme customers as users request functionality that is best kept outside the theme core.

SEO Ready: The Total theme has been coded with SEO in mind. To start, this premium theme is well optimized to run quickly on a good server (we’ve seen loading times as low as 0.2 seconds). The theme runs on symantic and valid HTML5 code. It has built-in schema.org implementation out of the box. And of course it fully supports the very popular WordPress SEO plugin by Yoast. So setup your site and start ranking today!

More Features Than You Could Think Of: We?ve tried to include a lot of features to make Total the most flexible premium WordPress theme on the market (and many of our customers will agree that it is). We simply couldn’t talk about all of these features here on the theme page, so be sure to check out our landing page that really explains all the various theme features and builder modules available in the theme. Oh…and keep a lookout though – we?ll be adding in even more useful features, functions, builder modules and optimizations as you (the customer) requests them.

Total WordPress Theme Showcase: If you don’t think our live demos truly showcase what the Total theme is capable of, then have a look at our list of over 40 awesome websites using the Total theme. Yours or your client’s website could be on this list too! After you have purchased the template and created your awesome website be sure to share it with us and if deemed appropriate we could add you to the list

Real Customer Reviews

People simply love the Total WordPress theme. Don’t believe us? Have a look at some of the reviews left by our customers so you can see for yourself.

I have bought a lot of wordpress themes so far. Total is the only one I rate 5 star! (and yes, better than those bloated themes like Avada or X-Theme) I was especially looking for a theme which is not filled up with those silly stylish effects which are making the website slower and unstable. Total gave me exactly what I want still not losing any customizability. It is nice that you can turn on/off the features you’d like to use or not. And I like those visual composer additional elements. Congrats to the author. There is a hard work behind. I appreciate. Just give this a try. You will like it.
After having tried out many, many themes. This is the smartest theme I have worked with so far. I’m hooked and I’m exited to seen what the future of Total holds.
WPExplorer’s Total is superior to any theme I’ve found to date. The versatility and support have my loyalty. AJ knows his stuff.
Finally! A multi-purpose theme that is both user-friendly AND developer-friendly. I’ve used some great theme frameworks, but they’re usually targeted toward developers, not clients. I’ve also used all the top-selling multi-purpose themes from ThemeForest, and they’re targeted toward clients, but are a pain (or impossible) to customize via child themes. Total WordPress Theme is proving to give me the best of both worlds. The documentation and support is very good, too! Oh, and I can’t finish without mentioning the leanness of the theme. It loads faster than any other theme I’ve used. And, paired with a few of the best performance-enhancing plugins (WP Super Cache, Autoptimize, and Remove query strings from static resources), it’s unbeatable. Thank you, AJ and WPExplorer team. Total will be my new go-to theme for all my clients.
It’s one of the best wordpress themes That you can buy on themeforest, and on the World Wide Web, you have hundreds of options to make it the way you want! It’s easy to change color’s or to add icons. Code and design quality! Keep up the good work!
Easily the best theme I have ever purchased and used. Extremely customisable and user-friendly and the customer support has been excellent.
This is one of the greatest WordPress themes of ALL TIME. And, solid support too. Worth investing time in, and just a pleasure to use. Well-thought-out design.
awesome theme – feature rich, stable, well documented, prompt support – i’ve tried a few and this one is miles ahead. if you have any design sense, you can do some amazing things. but if you don’t have any design sense, you can still do some amazing things. it’s that good !
Nuevamente muchas gracias!!
This theme is quite diverse with the amount of layouts available. Aside from the fantastic features, the documentation, the examples of the different layouts and the customer support is what really makes this theme a good one to install. Each time I’ve contacted the developer of this theme, not only do I get a super fast response, I also learn a little more about HTML, CSS, JavaScript and now I can even dabble (careful) with PHP. You don’t need to be technical at all to use this theme, however, if you’re interested in how to make your site personal to your style and taste, you can’t go wrong with

Hey AJ, I've had a look at one of your demos and can see in the sample content that the header banners are set up as a background image on a row, then with headings and buttons etc inside the row. I really like this idea as I have currently been using slider revolution for my static banners, and I think your method is most likely quicker to load if I wanted something like this on every page? So I've tried to replicate your method but can't get the padding correct to show the full banner without extra space appearing before and after the banner. The banner size is 1240px by 420px. I want it to sit directly after the header. I've disabled the Page header title, so this is in replace of that. I tried adding row padding 210px at the top and 210px at the bottom to equal the size of the banner. Then adjusted for the heading and text inside the row, but then big gaps of space started appearing before and after the banner. Is there a method of calculating this so it appears correctly? Or should I continue using Slider Revolution on every page? Best Regards, Lucy

Hi Lucy, There shouldn't be any "gaps" are you able to share a live example so I can see what's going on? The only thing to really look for is the default column margin which you may want to reset or just be aware of when setting the row padding - https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/visual-composer-spacing/ - AJ

Thanks AJ - I tried again to get it to work, but decided to do the banners in Illustrator instead and they work better responsively this way. My next issue is I'm just started to build my website on the live site now but the Exporting & Importing Theme Mods area doesn't seem to be working at the moment. I've used it a lot in the past so I think I am doing it correctly. When i import the settings it says "Invalid Import Data". So on my local site I am going to the import/export in theme panel. Clicking the Highlight Options button, copying the settings, going to my live site and pasting in the Import Settings area and then pressing "Import Options". I'm pretty sure I am doing it correctly as it has worked in the past. Could there be a problem with the latest update of the theme?

Hi Lucy, I think you are running into a little bug that a customer recently reported. If you are using this font stack at all in the Customizer - https://cl.ly/mwUn - it adds extra quote marks in the code so it won't transfer correctly. So if you change the font, save the customizer export/import then re-select the font it should work. Let me know if that's the issue you are having. I am working on a fix as well for the update so that the settings gets saved as "ui-font-stack" on the backend but on the front-end it renders the stack so that there isn't any issue with the quotes being saved in the customizer. Sorry for the troubles! - AJ

I just finished adding a fix - https://cl.ly/mwaq - so in the next update these fonts will show as just "system-ui" so it gets saved better in the database but the front-end will render the full stack. - AJ

AJ, what do you suggest as the best approach for adding additional content to the top or bottom of the Overlay Mobile Menu?

Also, why does the search not show up on the Overlay Mobile Menu?

Hi, This overlay menu style is created with Javascript (more efficient). So to insert extra content you'll need to use javascript, example:

    add_action( 'wp_footer', function() { ?>

The search isn't added by default to keep it slim and it just doesn't look very nice with a search. If you want a search in the header I would recommend using this method - https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/creating-mobile-icons-menu/ (see bottom of the page) - it makes more sense and keep the menu slim.

On the smallest devices this won't display by default though because only the mobile menu is visible but it can be enabled - https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/snippets/display-mobile-menu-icons-always/

That said...if you have a mockup of a search field in the overlay and it looks good I'll definately consider adding it.

Hi AJ, I think I've hit on something that no-one will have thought of, though a little CSS should solve it. As you might remember, I'm running a dark coloured website. All well and good, looks the business - unless I happen to log out and try to add a comment to one of the posts in my blog. I've already added some CSS into the main text-area to make it a dark colour with light writing. Problem I'm having now though, is with the un-logged in 'name' 'email' and 'website' fields being a light background with dark writing. Is there a bit of CSS code to turn this into a dark background with light coloured writing? Thanks!

I am using a plugin called Real3dFlipbook to show virtual magazines purchased from CodeCanyon. I experienced an error whereby a page would skip using an advance page button. On contacting the developer they inform me of the following [quote]"I found that your theme has some custom event handling and redispatching. Single click event creates one "mouseup" and one "tap" event and that causes bugs in flipbook. That happens in script wpex.min.js. Flipbook listens both click and tap because there are laptops with touch screen but those two events should never happen at the same time. You might try another theme or contact theme author how to disable that feature." Is this something that you would agree with and if so how could I disable and what other functionality would this affect? Thanks in advance Jon

Hi Jon, Unfortunately I don't have access to that plugin so I'm not able to test. Would it be possible to first go to Theme Panel and disable the minify javascript - https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/minify-javascript/ - the file the plugin developer mentions has all the theme's scripts combined. If you disable the minify function the theme will load each javascript file as it's own un-minified this way the plugin developer can tell you exactly which code they believe is causing the issue so I can look into it. The theme does include a couple libraries for touch events - TouchSwipe and tocca but these shouldn't be altering the default events for other scripts. If you want you can also have the plugin author email me directly at wpexplorer ( at gmail dot com) I would be more then happy to work with the plugin author to make sure their plugin works correctly with the theme. - AJ -- ps: I noticed your support license has expired, if at this time you can renew your support license I would really appreciate it. Hi AJ Following on from our previous correspondence the plugin developer for Real3DFlipbook has finally responded after a week with the following:- "I already posted that the problem, it is altering the default mouse and touch events by another plugin, so single event "click" creates two custom events : one "click" and one "tap". I'm sending the screenshot of exact place where that happens. Flipbook listens for click and tap because of laptops with touchscreen." The two screenshots refer to the vent in Tocca.min.js. Hi, The correct way to make items equal height would be using the "equal-height-content" added to each module in the row like this: https://cl.ly/nL9L The problem though is because of how the pricing tables are designed you won't see any difference unless you give the modules a custom border or background around the whole thing since by default the borders on pricing elements are added on each section not on the full element. This should help explain it better: https://cl.ly/nLQk Make sense? - AJ

bbPress "pages" aren't standard pages they are mostly auto archives so applying a title with background image won't be possible via a built-in setting but very easy to do using theme filters. Where exactly do you want to add it? Also if you want to add a background image with title to your entire site it's also very easy with a little code instead of doing it manually for each page. I have some useful snippets here for the page header with background showing how to use the theme filters: * https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/snippets/page-header-background-image-global-edit/ * https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/snippets/post-featured-image-header-bg/ * https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/snippets/page-header-bg-image-sizes/ But if you tell me exactly what you want to do I can also assist with the code. - AJ -- ps: I noticed your support license has expired, if at this time you can renew your support license I would really appreciate it. Hi, The margin should be applied to the page title on all pages, it would be impossible for the theme to magically know what pages you don't want to have a space between the title and the content. So on any page where you want to remove the margin under the page title you would use the page settings to disable the bottom margin on that page specifically - https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/page-settings-metabox/ (the option is under the title tab). It's impossible to know what the loading issue is without looking at the live URL (can you share it). But my guess is you probably used a plugin to move your scripts to the bottom of the site, so your site is loading before the stylesheet. - AJ

Hi there, I have a quite a few customers using BuddyPress and UserPro on the site, I haven't heard of Zombify before. But ANY plugin coded correctly should work with the theme. The only thing is you may have to add some CSS to style things to match the overall look of the theme and as customized via the theme options (for any changes you make). And maybe some php code to tweak layouts or if you want to make some tweaks to the default output from the plugins. In terms of adding likes/upvotes to blog posts this is definitely possible since you can use theme filters to alter the output of your entries if the plugin you use for the upvote system doesn't automatically get added to post entries. Example: https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/snippets/custom-blog-entry-blocks/ Which is something I can assist with if you aren't exactly sure how to use the code. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Hi, We'll ViralPress is a premium plugin so any issues you have with the plugin you can always ask them about and they should help you get things working as they should. Support definitely includes help with theme related issues or guidance, but not with customizations. For example if you have any errors with BuddyPress or want some guidance on changing the layout (no sidebar, left sidebar, right sidebar) using a theme snippet - https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/snippets/altering-layouts/ - we can definitely assist with that. But customizations are not included in support because it is a template and it's very low cost. So for example you can't just send us a mockup of the design you want for the site or custom changes to buddyPress and expect us to make them for you, for that you will need to hire a web developer. Make sense? If you do have any other pre-purchase questions or concerns let me know. - AJ

Hi, * The theme's mega menu is going to be the width of the header element. The only way to make it expand 100% of the screen width would be to either set a full-width header - https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/full-width-header/ - or using custom javascript to re-calculate the menu width. Also Total does support 3rd party mega menu plugins such as UberMenu if you prefer to use those. * With a little CSS like this:

    #site-header {  border-bottom: 5px solid #f4f4f4; }

Working on latest versions of Total and WP and all plugins are up to date. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi, There aren't any known issues with updating/saving pages on the latest version in the backend or front-end builders. Do you see any errors in your browser console when updating? Usually these sort of things happen when a poorly coded plugin is installed causing a javascript error on the page so the page builder won't work. You mentioned its happening in Firefox, does it happen on all browsers? If you want to renew your support license and submit a private ticket we can log in and have a look for you - https://wpexplorer-themes.com/support/ - otherwise I am happy to troubleshoot here in the comments till we can get things fixed up. Did you already update to WordPress 4.9 as well? - AJ

Hi AJ - I would like the Total 'Image Grid' to display in masonry style. Is there a way to do this as i can't find it. I did use the WP Bakery 'Masonry Media Grid' but I don't like the lightbox at all that displays with this. Many thanks. Kim

Ok I found it. Under 'general' tab... 'grid style' then select 'masonry' :)

Hi AJ, Working on a new site and I'm trying to add a totally custom blog archive.php file to the theme. My designer came up with a design which can't be done as is. But I'm in for a challenge! I can't figure out where to find de Total blog archive.php on the FTP. Are there multiple? Which ones should we alter? Regards, Tonny

Hi Tonny, There isn't a blog archive.php - any chance you can share the mockup so I can have a look. Honestly, Total is so modular I'm certain you can do anything without editing any of the actual code. For example you can completely change the entry output using a filter - https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/snippets/custom-blog-entry-blocks/ And for the blog posts you can use a dynamic template - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGYuBjqkj8Q If you can share he mockup I can guide you in the right direction. Also is this for the main blog only or also for the categories/tags? - AJ

Here is the mock-up. I blurred some stuff out for privacy issues. But you'll get the drift. https://prnt.sc/hd1c7p What my idea was is to show the bigger post as a sticky one. Then use a custom query to filter out the sticky post in the right column to not show it there. How to go about on the monthly query I probably make up as I go...as usual. Have no clue as of yet. This is for main blog only. Category pages are done allready.

If this is for the main blog you can actually do this using the Total Blog Grid module and 2 columns in the Visual Composer. Here is a video example: https://cl.ly/npyb (maybe add a bit of CSS to get the exact look you need or tweak the modules accordingly). I assume the first article would be featured always, using sticky seems like a pain since it would be manual and most blogs always feature the first article. But...This would be very easy to do with custom code as well by looping through the months if you prefer to do it that way so it's automatic. No need to use custom queries to filter out sticky posts though (in my opinion) just add a counter to the loop so you can separate the first item if ( $count == 1 ) { } I can help you out with the loop code if needed. Also when you display the images in your custom loop you'll want to use the total image function - https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/total-post-thumbnail-featured-image-helper-functions/ - so you can take advantage of the cropping functions. You wouldn't edit archive.php though, just copy the file at templates/blog.php and place that in your child theme and edit the loop on there. This way it's a custom template. - AJ

I allready made the 2 colums and added blog grid in VC. It looks cool. But the query or custom loop is the thing I don't get. How can I filter out the latest post in the right column and how can I show the months automatically as in the design? The client needs to just add posts and the system to do the rest. I don't need my client to touch any pages but adding to the CPTs. So I guess I need to alter blog.php :( Or probably find someone to do so! Which I prefer. Any recommendations? Should I ask through the supportsystem?

Hi, Thank you for your patience. Yes, if you need everything automatically so it shows for each month then you will want to custom code the loop. So you would essentially need 12 queries (1 for each month) and loop through them. And of course you'll want to create a function or file that holds the actual design of the month display so you don't have to copy it 12 times. I can help with the basic loop if needed. Let me know. - AJ

We are utilizing this theme but Visual Composer has not been updated in a very long time... I want to make sure this theme doesn't have any core plugin files that will be lost in the process of deleting Visual Composer and uploading the latest version. Please let me know.

Hi, The page builder plugin has been updated every time there has been an update to the plugin please have a look at the changelog - http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/changelog/ - so yes the latest version of the theme is fully compatible with the latest version of the plugin. Deleting and re-uploading the plugin wouldn't cause any issues but the easiest thing is to update the plugin with the theme itself as mentioned in the docs: http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs-category/updates/ I noticed you don't have the "purchased" label next to your username. If you aren't using a legal copy of the theme please purchase a license, thanks! And this way you get access to theme and plugin updates in your dashboard for easier updating ;) (this is a good time too since the theme is 50% off). If you do own a legal copy, next time please log in with the account used to make the puchase since support is for verified customer only. Thank you and happy Thanks Giving! - AJ

I just checked the changelog and it looks like the website theme has not been updated either! It seems to be utilizing 1.6.3 ... at this point is it safe to update the theme? (I am worried about losing content).

If you are getting an error here then you should contact Tickera so they can fix it. The error is coming from the main menu walker, if the plugin is hooking into it they need to make sure they are returning an array for the element classes. That said, I will add an extra check in the theme as well to prevent any errors - thanks for the heads up! Here is the updated file - https://cl.ly/nvZ0 If you want to replace via FTP to fix the debug notice in the meantime. - AJ
